What you'll learn
Why Odor-Centric Design Changes Everything You’ll reframe your entire approach to search design by focusing on what odor actually does under real conditions—helping dogs succeed through informed, intentional setups.
Master the Science of Odor in Motion You’ll gain deep knowledge of volatility, diffusion, dispersion, and how environmental factors like humidity, temperature, and airflow shape scent movement—and dog behavior.
Apply Design Skills in Real-Time You’ll build, set, and run searches using environmental profiles and scenario-based challenges. Each setup helps you apply the science of scent to strengthen learning and performance.
Design with Intent, Not Guesswork You’ll learn how to use odor behavior to create purposeful challenges—like ghost hides, dead zones, and vertical layering—so every placement teaches something specific and measurable.

Beyond the Hide: Search Design That Teaches and Challenges with Purpose
This two-day intensive is designed for chief search designers, scentwork instructors, judges, and handlers who are ready to move beyond simplistic hide placements and into search design that reflects how dogs actually perceive and process scent. Through a blend of lecture, real-time observation, hands-on exercises, and group analysis, you’ll learn how to design search areas that teach, challenge, and develop key scentwork skills in your dog. We’ll cover the behavior of odor under varying environmental conditions—including airflow, humidity, temperature, and terrain—and how these factors affect plume movement, search patterns, and dog decision-making. You’ll study how different oils (Birch, Anise, Clove, Cypress) behave in space, time, and surface interaction.
Explore the art of odor-led searches and enhance your dog's abilities! Secure your spot for an exclusive two-day workshop. Limited spaces—enroll to teach with purpose and revolutionize searchwork.
Most search setups focus on placement—not odor behavior. That leads to guessing, frustration, and missed learning. This workshop fixes that. You’ll learn how odor truly moves, how dogs respond to it, and how to design searches that build skill—not confusion. It’s practical, science-based, and immediately useful for judges, instructors, and handlers.

Straight from the Plume
This workshop completely reshaped how I think about search design. I used to focus on spacing and object placement—now I design for the dog’s experience of odor. The way Natalie broke down hide behaviors and environmental influence made everything click. I’ve already redesigned half my class exercises—and my students are thriving.
Las Vegas
I came in thinking I understood how odor moves. I left realizing I had only scratched the surface. This was the first time I truly connected hide placement with dog behavior at a systems level. If you’re a judge who wants to design meaningful, fair, and educational searches—attend this workshop. It’s essential.
USCSS and AKC Scent Work Judge
An absolute game-changer—even as a newcomer to odor-centric training, I gained clarity on how every environmental nuance shapes a search. I can’t wait to apply these insights in the field
Handler
Even without working a dog, I was completely immersed. The structure, the demos, the team design labs—it all kept me engaged and learning. The concepts of drift zones, ghost hides, and odor anchors gave me a whole new lens to view scentwork. I walked away a better coach for my students
Scentwork Instructor
I’ve attended a lot of seminars, but this one was different. No guesswork—just real understanding of odor, environment, and how dogs process it all. Watching the same hide behave differently in different setups was eye-opening. I left with tools I could use immediately in training—and clarity I’ve been missing-only testimonials are quick to scan and can highlight the value of your product at a glance.
